#12: Keenyah Hill

And here we have, quite possibly, one of the most unlikable contestants in the history of ANTM. Keenyah had one of the most entitled personalities I’ve ever seen on this show, which is why it irked me nearly every time she spoke. She made a big fuss about her makeover (though I agree it was not the best look for her) and she made such a big deal about Naima opening Nelson Mandela’s cell because she “wasn’t black enough”, yet Keenyah knew absolutely nothing about Nelson Mandela. Upon arriving in Africa, it seemed Keenyah’s entitlement went up a notch, because she thought being the only fully black contestant made her the most entitled to the experience.

Then there’s also the topic of her weight gain. Many girls on this show gain weight during the competition. It’s stressful, it’s understandable, but most of them make more of an effort to limit their gain. Keenyah, however, did not seem to concerned with it. She continually ate large amounts of food that were not good for her, and then proceeded to complain about the fact that her body no longer looked as good as the other girls’ bodies. I found it frustrating to hear her complain when she wasn’t really making an effort to change.

The reason Keenyah ranks in this spot is not because of her grating personality, though. It’s because I found her modeling abilities to be quite lacking on the show. How she managed to make it to the finale, I’ll never understand, because Keenyah consistently took subpar photos, with only one or two good ones winding up in her portfolio. And on top of that, she wasn’t necessarily the strongest runway walker. I found myself wondering every episode, “What do the judges see in her?”.

Post-ANTM, Keenyah has done some spreads in magazines and runway shows and has signed to I Model and Talent in New York. She also appeared on an episode of The Bold and the Beautiful.
