Hyphessobrycon loretoensis is a peaceful schooling fish suitable for the community aquarium. You should keep them together with other peaceful fishes. The aquarium should be planted densely on the sides and background. In the middle, you should leave a lot of free swimming space. You need a peat filter. A dark substrate and dimmed light bring out the colors of the fish. It is not easy to keep for beginners.

This specie was first described by Ladiges in 1938.

Origin

South America; They inhabit the upper Amazon in Peru.

Diet

They are omnivorous but they prefer small live food such as Artemia. Dry food is accepted as well.
