Dwarf Pea Puffers are a tiny species of true freshwater puffer. As the name suggests they are tiny and will not grow longer than an inch. Unlike many other species of puffer that may be advertised a freshwater these puffers are best kept in freshwater throughout their entire lives. As puffer fish they are very intelligent and curious, however this can sometimes cause them to kill and injure other tank mates as they investigate their world through taste as well as sight. While some individuals will do fine when kept with various other small species others may use their tiny, but powerful bite to harass their tankmates to no end. This species does not possess the constantly growing teeth of larger species and as a result does not require constant feeding of hard-shelled feeders to wear them down, however they will still benefit from a variety of foods such as feeder shrimp and snails to chomp down on.
