Tiger Barb (Puntius tetrazona)

Tiger barbs are a small diamond shaped fish that can reach 3" long. They have a lifespan of 6-7 years and are available in different color options. Like Skirt tetras these fish display prominent schooling behavior in larger groups and use this to their advantage when housed with larger more aggressive species. These fish can have radically different personalities between individuals and as a result the compatibility of these species is quite large. While some may have a rather mellow temperament keep in mind that these fish have a reputation for being fin nippers, fully grown adults may even eat feeders such as small minnows, juveniles can be a bit easier to house but it's best to keep in mind for the future. Our best suggestion is to get to know your fish and keep an eye on any signs of aggression between them and the other members of your tank.
