This Packard Eight got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1932 Packard 901-503 Standard Eight sedan was acquired by the current owner out of California in 1986. The car underwent a refurbishment in 1993–1994 that included refinishing the blue and black exterior and refreshing the gray cloth interior. Power is supplied by a 319ci L-head inline-eight paired with a synchromesh three-speed manual transmission, and features include a rear luggage rack and trunk, dual side-mounted spare tires, side mirrors, dual taillights, a woodgrain dash, and a Jaeger clock. This ninth-series Packard is now offered by the seller on behalf of its owner with replaced parts, third-party documentation, and a clean New Mexico title in the name of the owner’s trust.

The four-door sedan features a 129½” wheelbase and was refinished in its current shade of blue with black fenders and trim during the refurbishment that was completed in 1994. Equipment includes dual taillights, a fold-down luggage rack, fender lights, side mirrors, a cormorant hood ornament, and a radiator guard. The front fenders show scratches in the paint, the trunk is believed to have been replaced, and inconsistent body-panel gaps are noted by the seller.

Body-color wheels that were ceramic-coated during the refurbishment feature Packard Motor Car Co. center caps and are wrapped in 6.50-19 Firestone whitewall tires. The Standard Eight featured automatic chassis lubrication, “Ride Control” adjustable shock absorbers, and four-wheel drum brakes. Spare tires with locking body-color hard covers are side-mounted on the running boards.

The cabin features front and rear bench seats upholstered in gray cloth with matching door panels and carpeting. The interior was refreshed during the refurbishment, and other equipment includes a woodgrain dash, crank windows, hand controls for the adjustable shocks, dual gloveboxes, a Jaeger clock, rear door pockets, and a rear blanket rail. The rear quarter-window cranks have been disconnected to prevent damage to the window-mounted flower vases, and the carpeting in the trunk shows stains and wear.

Instrumentation consists of a 100-mph speedometer along with gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 76k miles, approximately 6k of which are said to have been added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown.

The 319ci L-head straight-eight features a modified downdraft carburetor as well as an electric fuel pump and was rated at 110 horsepower at 3,200 rpm when new. The engine reportedly was overhauled in 1971, and the fluids were replaced in spring 2021 in preparation for the sale. The seller notes an oil leak from the rear of the engine and states that the carburetor jets may require recalibration for operation at sea level.

An Earle C. Anthony Inc dash placard is located on the dashboard ahead of the steering wheel. The letters KFI on the plaque refer to the 50,000-watt AM radio station founded by Earle C. Anthony in 1922. Paperwork and documentation accompanying the car can be viewed in the photo gallery below.
