Actress Zhang Ziyi announces divorce with musician husband

Calling the divorce a "decision between two adults," Zhang and Wang stated Monday that it an amicable split, reported the South China Morning Post.

The two added that they would keep co-parenting their two children, aged seven and three respectively, and would not offer any more comment on the issue.

Talk about the couple’s split arose earlier in the same day as a Chinese paparazzi disclosed that the couple had divorced, according to The Straits Time. It is reported that Wang’s representative initially hung up the phone when the media contacted him to verify the rumors.

Zhang, 44, gained international recognition with her role in the 2000 movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," which received 10 Academy Awards nominations. She also garnered many awards for her appearance in the 2013 movie "The Grandmaster."

Wang, 52, gained immense popularity as a rock musician as well as a coach on "The Voice of China."

The two tied the knot in 2015, marking Zhang’s first and Wang’s third marriage.
