Tiffany Haddish chases down then photo bombs Shakira backstage at MTV VMAs

The comedian persistently followed the Video Vanguard honoree backstage at the VMAs.

Shakira reminded the world why she's an icon at the VMAs on Tuesday — and one superfan couldn't get enough.

A video from backstage at the award show showed Tiffany Haddish persistently pursuing the pop star as she made her way through the room.

Haddish is seen spotting the singer from across the room, and making a beeline to catch up with her before she leaves the area. The comedian repeatedly shouts "Shakira, Shakira" to try to get her attention with her unmistakeable voice — and eventually inserts herself into a few photos with the Colombian icon.

Shakira does not appear to acknowledge the actress at any point in the video, though Haddish and Shakira posed together on the red carpet at a different point in the night.

Haddish presented the Best Afrobeats category at the ceremony. The award went to Rema and Selena Gomez for their song "Calm Down."

Meanwhile, Shakira received the Video Vanguard award midway through the ceremony. Her "Hips Don't Lie" collaborator Wyclef Jean presented her with the award after she performed an extensive medley of some of her biggest hits, including "She Wolf," "TQG," and "Whenever, Wherever."

Shakira also won the VMA for Best Collaboration for "TQG" alongside Karol G.

Correction: This story previously stated Shakira won Best Latin for "TQG." That award went to Anitta for "Funk Rave."
