He came from near Philidelphia, PA to Nacogdoches Texas and built a log house on his farm near Nacogdoches in 1843. He and his wife had a child Susannah Woods Hayter (my grandmother) was reared in this log house, married to Thaddeus Calvin Sitton and they lived with her parents, my mother & brothers & sisters were born & reared in it. This house still stands on the 404 acre farm which is still in the family. My mothers brother Sam Sitton owned it when he passed away years ago his wife Johnnie Harrell Sitton restored this house & lived in it at age 89.
