"Like my previous order the shipping was super speedy, the plants beautiful, and the guppy grass was a wonderful addition to my planted tank!"

-Rachel L. Via Etsy

This is one of my favorite plants.

"Najas guadalupensis" is a drifting, low light, and easy care plant- It doesn't even need a substrate!

This order is for five stems, all branched and at least 6" long. Will contain other shorter stems, as guppy grass is notoriously brittle. Anything that breaks off will keep right on growing!

Grown SUBMERGED

Growing requirements:

  • 65-80 Degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ph 6-8
  • Low to medium light intensity.
  • Fast growth speed
  • Gets leggier and greener with lower light, a dusky red and more compact with higher light
  • Co2 not recommended

Cassandra's notes:

A superbly easy plant, Najas Guppy grass likes to "pearl" in bright light. You'll see this effect best right up at the surface nearest the light. I love to allow mine to float around aimlessly, as it only sends out the occasional "anchor root", and is easily displaced.

As the name suggests, guppies, tetras, bettas and all similar smaller fish love to dart between and around the fronds. Delightful to watch!

There aren't really any specific growing requirements for Guppy Grass. A little light, meh water, and room temperatures are all it needs.

I love this in my tanks as they are great at sheltering fry and baby shrimplets. They are also one of the fastest growing aquarium plants you can get. Very similar in that way to duckweed. People buy this stuff just as a quick nitrate/ nitrite solution. Once it gets going properly, you'll scoop out handfuls a week. And then.. *chef's hand kiss*... excellent water quality.

Can you tell how much I love this plant?

Mine are grown submerged with minimal fertilizer and average light/ room temperatures. Always the possibility of harmless snail or shrimp hitchhikers!

The first time I ordered this, it was delayed in shipping and arrived to me as a melted mush. I reached out to Glass Grown Aquatics, and their customer service was stellar. Even though it was to no fault of their own, they wanted to make it right. The next order of guppy grass was beyond generous, and arrived promptly and in beautiful condition. I highly recommend this store. Thank you so much!
