Before the end of the summer comes to claim the last rays of sunshine and unfortunately, the last vacations for most of us, KAWA offers you a small sunny escapade in one of the most beautiful villages of Tunisia: Sidi Bou Said.
Sidi Bou Saïd is a small coastal village of Tunisia, located about twenty kilometers northeast of Tunis. Perched on a cliff overlooking Carthage and the Gulf of Tunis, it is named after a saint: Sidi Bou Said.
To take your marks in the village and soak up its beauty, start with a walk in the middle of the beautiful blue and white residences by heading towards the belvedere Ras Qatarjamah, which offers a breathtaking view of the bay and Carthage.
A real cultural richness
Once well installed, take the direction of the archaeological site of Carthage to discover the heritage. Accessible on foot, the site gathers Roman vestiges such as the Antonin thermal baths, the largest Roman thermal remains on the African continent. A short distance away is also the Saint-Louis cathedral of Carthage, which today is the Acropolium, a cultural venue hosting concerts, meetings and artistic exhibitions. Undeniably, the walk is full of small archaeological treasures to discover to perfect your knowledge of History.
An art of living
Back in the beautiful streets of Sidi Bou Said, go to Habib Thameur street, the main shopping avenue, to enjoy a moment shopping and haggling for trinkets and other typical Tunisian objects. Before going on, take the time to enjoy a local specialty in one of the many local cafes and restaurants, such as the café des délices (yes, it is the one to which our national Patrick Bruel dedicated a song).
Of course, it would be unthinkable not to reserve a moment to stroll on the beach, the closest one is called Amilcar, small and intimate, it will delight the most fond of water activities such as windsurfing or jet-skiing, as much as the simple amateurs of sunbathing.
