Irene Agnes Petersen, age 92, of Tracy passed away October 29, 2019 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial Services will be 10:30am Monday, November 4 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Irene Agnes Petersen was born April 12, 1927 to Ewald and Agnes (Suhr) Filter in Winnetoon, Nebraska.  She was baptized on May 1, 1927 at First English Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills, NE. Irene was confirmed on April 2, 1944 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Irene attended Winnetoon Public School.  She was united in marriage to Willis H. Petersen on April 10, 1945 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Irene spent 26 years working at Prairie View Health Care Center as a Dietary Aid. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. Irene enjoyed doing crafts, making quilts, sewing, baking, gardening, playing board games and card games. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Irene is survived by children: Phyllis (Lawrence) Maeyaert of Tracy, Kathy (Gary) Driessen of Canby and Carl (Sharon) Petersen of Pipestone; grandchildren: Cory (Amanda) Maeyaert of Tracy, Heather (Tom) Huncovsky of Bismarck, ND, Amanda (Jared) Lipinski of Canby, Derek (Laura) Driessen of Canby, Sean (Bailey) Driessen of Canby, Lucinda Petersen, Becky Petersen of Pipestone, Ashley (Kyle) Swanhorst of Willow Lake, SD, Brad (Lisa) Rustman of Alexandria, and Jason (Nikki) Rustman of Fairbanks, AK; great grandchildren: Chayan & Kylie Maeyeart, Bryne & Hayden Huncovsky, Gavyn Lipinski, Jessa & Cora Driessen, Polaris Driessen, and Bryce, Reid, Eve, A.J. Jazell, & Adonis Rustman; brothers: Charles Filter of Tracy and Lawrence (Blanche) Filter of Marshall; and sisters Alice Trebesch of Springfield and Delores Fredericks of Tracy. She is preceded in death by her husband Willis, son Darrell, her parents, brother Otto Filter and six sisters: Alma Hoffman, Marceline Filter, Martha Radke, Hazel Chasteen and Pauline Radke.
