Where’s Waldo

When I was a kid, I loved “Where’s Waldo” books.

The thrill of the hunt was a unique combination of addictive and frustrating. Waldo was right there, on the page, stationary. By minute 10, 20 and 30 it seemed less and less likely he was, in fact, there.

Then in an instant of pure exhilaration, I’d spot him. Smiling at me as if he’d be waiting for this moment with the same degree of anticipation as I had.

Occasionally at the library, I’d find a Where’s Waldo that had Sharpie circles drawn around every Waldo.

Which instantly sucked all of the fun out of the books. The hard work was complete, the challenge all but gone.

Life is a lot like a Where’s Waldo book.

Getting through each page seems easy enough. There are people around us every day doing just that.

But most everyone will tell you that it looks easier than it turns out being. And that’s the point.

The challenge is the fun.

If every battle in our lives had a circle, it’s answer life would be numbing.

The searches for meaning that we all endure provide us with a purpose.

The more searching we do, the more meaning we’ll find.

Everywhere we search a Waldo is waiting to be found.
