Description
Common name: Clown Loach
Latin name: Chromobotia macracanthus
Maximum size: 20-25cm
Water chemistry: pH: 5.0-8.0; Hardness: soft to medium hard (dH: 5-15); Temperature: 23-30 C
Origin: Native to the Greater Sunda Islands of Borneo and Sumatra.
Diet: Clown Loaches are carnivorous and eat insects, small crustaceans and snails in the wild. Will take all types of life & frozen food, good quality pellet and flake food (such as New Life Spectrum Cichlid pellets).
Not especially aggressive but don’t keep it with much smaller fishes as they may be intimidated by its size and sometimes very active behaviour. Although botiids don’t require turbulent conditions they do best when the water is well-oxygenated with a degree of flow.
