The septic system needs an exhaust pipe to carry air or gas inside the septic tank. If a septic tank has a division, there is often a t-pipe going to the other tank. Exhaust pipe usually located at the last chamber of septic tank.

These are the reasons why an exhaust pipe is needed.

To have flow air or gas in the septic tank.

To allow water to flow quickly from the floor drain or to the toilet bowl because there is no pressure to stop through the exhaust pipe.

With proper installation of breathing pipe helps to regulate the air pressure in the plumbing pipes to ensure that water flows through them.

Without exhaust pipe will not be able to effectively move waste water and solid waste out of your building. This can lead to problems such as overflowing drains, back-up toilets, and similar plumbing issues.

If there is no exhaust pipe or vent installed it may smell rotten egg odor. Sometimes the odor can only occur occasionally, in that case, it may be caused by certain air that is currently driving air from the roofs and is not necessarily a plumbing problem.

Like a septic tank full of waste and water, air has to go somewhere or the pressure will stop flowing or cause back flow of the septic system. To solve this problem a vent is needed and install at the top of the tank to release waste gas and air out.
