She’s very attractive, shapely, has long hair, relatively thin, doe-eyed and always has such a very “bubbly” personality – not to mention her never ending search to find her true love Prince Eric. Also, we can see that Ariel is fair-skinned or a bit lighter-skinned, apart from her figure this shows little girls that this is what women should look like, even if they’re not real. It appropriates a false sense of beauty, in that, even as half-woman/half-fish she manages to capture the attention of Prince Eric with her human like features and that woman should ultimately aspire to look like she does. Little mermaid, and a few other Disney movies tend to highlight or mainly focus on characters with lighter skin or characters that have more European features.
