English model Abigail Clancy headed to a New York City studio with photographer Yu Tsai for her SI Swimsuit photoshoot in 2010. The experience was a unique one for the model, who sported a painted-on outfit, which consisted of a blue-and-white plaid bikini and an England soccer jersey.

The addition of the jersey was very fitting and exciting for the native of the country. “I’m wearing an England jersey, so I’m representing England,” she noted while on the set of the photoshoot. The magazine feature included wives and girlfriends of soccer stars, and Clancy was dating Peter Crouch (her now-husband) at the time.

Though it was certainly an unconventional modeling experience, Clancy was “having fun” on set and was very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the SI Swimsuit experience. The model grew up seeing the SI Swimsuit Issue and the women who graced its pages. They were “the most beautiful women in the world,” she said of those who had come before her. “Strong, powerful, sexy, gorgeous, and I just can’t believe I’m a part of it, to be honest.”

She may not have been able to wrap her head around her inclusion in the 2010 magazine, but Clancy absolutely lived up to everything she had admired in the models she looked up to when she was growing up. The 37-year-old posed for a series of beautiful snapshots—below are four of our favorites from the day.
