Description

Sphaerichthys selatanensis is a rarely seen species of chocolate gourami. While they closely resemble the common chocolate gourami (S. osphronemoides), crossbands can be distinguished by their extra vertical bars on the body and a conspicuous horizontal bar across the flank. Care is almost identical between the two species; warm, clean water is a must, and while they can survive just fine in Toronto's tap water, they will be at their best in soft, acidic water. They appreciate being kept in groups, but males may become territorial with each other when they hit maturity.

These are young adults around 1-1.5".
