If you're an adventure seeker who loves exploring new environments, consider visiting the forested areas and paradisiacal islands surrounding Punta Cana on your next trip.

Saona Island, located off the coast of Punta Cana, is a popular destination for daily excursions filled with eager tourists seeking adventure. Despite being far from the main tourist area, it remains a highly sought-after location, along with Bavaro. This 110 km2 island is home to stunning coral reefs, coastal lagoons, and a diverse range of bird and reptile species. It also boasts interesting archaeological sites and caves, making it particularly attractive for nature lovers. With a population of only around 500 inhabitants, the island's main source of livelihood is fishing. Since 1975, Saona Island has been included within the protected areas of the Cotubanamá National Park, created by Presidential mandate.

One of Saona Island's main natural attractions is a natural pool located in the middle of the sea, with a depth of barely one meter. This is a perfect spot for relaxation and to encounter exotic marine species, earning it recognition as one of the best and most fascinating beaches in the Caribbean by the magazine "Caribbean Travel & Life."

With its virgin beaches, secluded spots, lush palm trees, and turquoise waters, Saona Island is one of the most charming regions of the Dominican Republic, beckoning visitors to discover its beauty.
