The top, top, top of the line from GT. They did the best stuff during the 90s, before everything started falling apart later. At my bike shop, the only good GT is an old GT.
Really nice example of this GT ti mtb frame. It may be one of those "Forever" frames, existing long after all of us are long gone. Thanks for posting it.
U-brakes on the rear of triple triangle GT's were because cantilevers of the day stuck out too far, and too low on the seat stays.
Edit... the sest stays on GT were so low that the rider might bump the cantilevers, hence, U-brakes.
Hard to read the CABE while I'm dealing with a Spring day in the bike shop!!
Believe it or not, I've been thinking about building it for a long time. When I got the urge in the first place, I was still able to buy period correct NOS parts. I've got everything to build it pretty much like the 1991 Team bike and I started getting the parts down from the attic this weekend. I took some pictures tonight and I'll try to post them below. I hope you like them.
I'm 77, so I won't be riding it. I've had three Zaskars over the years and I've got three other Zaskar frames up in the attic. I'm really enjoying messing around with bikes again. I'll be trying to do my best on the Xizang. It really deserves a better mechanic than me, but I'll take my time. I'll take some pictures along the way.
