Hong Kong will get another new mega retail and dining destination by early next year, as the Kai Tak Mall is slated to be completed by the end of 2024. According to media reports, the mall will be spread across 700,00 square feet and have over 200 shops and more than 70 restaurants.
Kai Tak Mall will have three five-storey towers connected by a 700-metre-long Sports Avenue and will have a ‘sportainment theme’. It will house sports academies, such as Kyung Hee Taekwondo, the Hong Kong Karate Academy, and the Hong Kong Rope Skipping Academy. The mall will also have the indoor playground Epicland and Namco Sportainment Arena, as well a 17.5-metre covered climbing wall, and 40 lanes of bowling alleys.
There will also be 32,000 square feet F&B area, with diverse dining options, such as the nature-inspired KEW+ and the Pizza Pig with its famous 30-inch pizzas. The mall will also have a 20,000 square feet food court at which diners can choose from European, Chinese, Southeast Asian, Korean, and Japanese cuisines.
The developer of the Mall, K11 Group, has confirmed that several international sports brands, such as Nike, Fila, Puma, New Era, and Skechers will have outlets at Kai Tak Mall. The sprawling retail space will also have unique and milestone experiential concept stores, such as OOFOS Recovery Footwear’s first flagship store in Hong Kong and New Balance’s latest UCC retail concept store.
This development comes after it was revealed that construction on the Kai Tak Sports Park will be complete by the end of 2024, in time for a 2025 opening. The 28-hectare sporting destination — which will also house Kai Tak Mall — is poised to be the city’s largest sports hub, and will be ground zero for big-ticket events such as the Hong Kong Sevens and the 15th National Games, which is being co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.
