Natural and authentic, Sospel is located at the entrance of the Mercantour National Park of the Southern Alps, not far from the famous French Riviera.Yet this is another world. A 13th century fortified toll bridge (one of the last in Europe) and a veeeryy peaceful village on the edges of a river called the”Bevera”. (I had never heard of it). I love this place, with a perfume of the nearby charming Italy, its slatted shutters and laundry hanging at the windows. Come with me for a walk!

Maybe this horse wants to fly and it lacks something … In fact, I really do not know ….Thank you for comment, Access Riviera 🙂

I always love the laundry on the balconies. Practical art.

Beautiful photos. I love all the colors on the buildings and how they paint the shutters a contrasting color to the building. I always have wondered what is the reason for the shutters?

Thank you for the comment! The slatted shutters in Southeastern France and Italy, called “persiennes”in French, are designed to let the light and the air come in, but not the sunlight…very useful when it is hot outside. 🙂
