Species Description
Widespread and frequent in the South. Habitat includes: meadows, heathland, open woodland etc. Life story: The larvae are predatory on earthworms and insect larvae, developing in damp places such as soil under turf, fresh mole hills, damp moss on rotting tree stumps, banks of streams etc. Length: 13 - 15 mm. Flight period: May to July.
