Editorial Reviews

Led by riveting front-woman Otep Shimaya, Otep has long been considered one of rocks most extraorindry live experiences. Having completed work on ASCENSION (the bands 3rd and best album to date). Produced by Dave Fortman (Mudvayne, Evanescence), THE ASCENSION is a "heavy duty masterpiece" - Harder Beat.

I'm reviewing Otep's work in general, not each individual song, because all her songs rock in my book. Otep is one of those artists you have to let in, when you do be prepared for her to bring all those hidden feelings to the forefront. Showing no mercy, she will rip your emotions from the deepest darkest pits of your soul, the question is, can you face them? I have yet to find a song from her I haven't been able to connect too. Lyrics are raw, powerful, punch you in the face and you will love it type of deal. I do.

Personally i enjoyed this album more than most Otep albums. That does not mean i dislike any of them or think they lack intensity,i just think it's the best cuz' it is the first Otep cd i ever heard. Since then i have been loyal following Otep. The songs on here are all 10's to me. If you don't have any of Otep's material this is a good place to start. It is a classic album with highlights such as Noose&Nail(personal favorite) and Eet tje Children,Crooked Spoons,Perfectly Flawed,Confrontation,Ghostflowers,March of Martyrs,Invisible & Home Grown. Hell the whole album is great. Check it out. I would also recommend their other al ums as we

I was listening to the My Ruin and Made out of Babies stations in Pandora when I heard a few Otep songs from this record and I had to get it. I mostly listen to female indie punk bands from the 1990s, but Otep is my favorite band right now! Very intense and a nice departure from the usual music out there.

Excellent blend of metal, black metal, death metal (not so much- but great grunts), and even rap-rock! Otep Shamaya is a great writer and has an extremely artistic approach to their songs. When she wants, you really feel her emotions. Otep (the band) are all very talented musicians and provide a fusion that is rare these days! If you like harder, heavier music, Otep is a must have!

Otep is the female version of Marilyn Manson. She has the same perspectives on life as Manson does in most respects. This is my first album by Otep although I know a few people that don't like them. I was suprised to find out this is actually a good cd. The production and sound on it is very good and being a death metal junkie like I have become this was a new and welcomed sound with the same punch I like in metal music. Although I don't agree with the twisted views she portrays this is still a band to pay attention to and was one I didn't waste money on.

I found out about Otep on Pandora. I downloaded this and Hydra. Hydra is good, but this is amazing! Every track is good. Just sample them. If you love Otep's amazing voice, powerful lyrics and rocking guitars, this is the album to get.
