    Hi guys,

Was browsing again and saw this from An Aquarium, the japanese LFS...

    Photos from www.an-aquarium.com

Has anyone kept this species locally? Any comments? I heard that deep body shapes are not quite as popular here.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Nice fishes but i still prefer the redness other apisto have which falls in the same family of short body. Can't remember which family this came from...anyway yes this species has been here before, i think Simon last time used to have it.

I prefer mac. super red if it's short body.
    Cheers!

Care to share your experience with us? Are they terribly aggressive? I have the impression that larger bodied apistos seems to be that way.

It's not too difficult to breed right hongsloi? frankly speaking i prefer hongsloi too...but i still prefer long slender apisto with either nice long dorsal fin or caudal fin..lyretail...
    Cheers!

This is a very pretty fish... I like the deeper body and the colours. Nice fish. Thanks, Benny for the pic!

I had been keeping this for a few times & the experience is always rewarding.
Basically, they can be more aggressive than Tri or Bit if put together, but for my case they are still okay....Currently just got in 4 pairs putting together with My Tucurui & Arua (total about 15 pairs), seems to be okay..

However, when when to breeding, i felt that the female is always esp. aggressive & i had lost male twice in the attempt.

My experience was a gd one. Zero casualties until brood caring where the female died. tink too exhausted liao.. Fending the male away from the fries. Male trying to do his part, however the female tink likewise. Male killed 1 oto, 3 pencils, 2 clown killies in order to officially declare the tank as a hoignei tank. Male quite similiar to the last picture u posted benny. However, my male is lyre tail is much longer.
