    Hi folks,

I am looking for synodontis decorus and synodontis angelicus. Anyone knows where I could get them?

Btw, any syno fanatics here? Would be grateful if you could post some pics of your tank setup.

    Cheers!

    Hi,
Think you can get S.angelicus at C328 or QianHu if I'm not mistaken. S.decorus, I,ve not seen for a while.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for the info! Do you keep synos?

Yup, haven't seen S. Decorus since early May this year, asked a LFS owner and he said they are seasonal.

Ok, I will take a trip to either C328 or QH one of these days.

    Anyone else have recent spotting?

BTW, if anyone is looking for yellow bodied Synodontis Multipunctatus, Chiclids Forever along upper serangoon road (near punggol nasi lemak, opposite Mobil petrol station) has a few.

C328 might not have these synodontis spp.... Maybe you can try QH or any shops selling African cichlids... And I figured you visited CF liao but to no avail...

No problems, just trying to help...

There are a lot of catfish nuts here... But they are more into Corydoras spp., like Stormhawk, Ebony, Benny, Loupgarou etc...

I'm a catfish nut too... But ONLY for Corydoras hastatus (and some Corydoras spp.), the upside down cat (hey, a Synodontis sp. too! ) and the Pimelodus pictus...

If you had said 'Cat Nut', then its different... Haha...

    Hi Bossteck,
Well you heard it all from thomas already Ya, there are catfish nutties here. Alot of them are into cories now, I'm more the 'no specific type guy' but I like oddballs. Had some huge buggers awhile back but now its like ChacaChaca or hara hara, had a beautiful Merodontus Tigris( hope I got that correct ) specimen awhile back but lost it to disease. Latest was the 'perfect tail' helicopter if you notice Give me a PM if you want to share anything or get anything 'exotica'. Btw, I'm not selling but I'll tell you where..

    Hi hi,

    Thanks for the tip.
I went and got them before the Christmas break but only see your msg now.
For those who are interested, there were a total of 3 tanks of synos. Think they are Synodontis serpentis and Synodontis aterrimus and the other one (with spots, I could not identify)

Anyway, i promptly bought a few each. BTW, they were mostly juveniles.

    Cheers.

Do note that some of the Synodontis can grow to 8-10" long and are not planted tank friendly. I have a batch of Synodontis eupterus which developed a liking for Anubias leaves ! In the end I had to give them away as I like aquatic plant more than fish

Oh yes, they can get quite big indeed.

And they seemed quite shy and graceful during the day, but when the lights are off, they do fight fiercely with each other, i can often see bit marks on my syno, nothing too serious though...

So... Green Baron, I take it that you stopped keeping synos since your experience with feathered-fins? If not, anymore cats to give away?

The feather-fins are actually quite lovely. I had to 'dismantle' my 3 feet tank with lots of precious Anubias to catch the catfish. Fortunately most of the plants are on driftwoods and pots.

I still have 5 in another planted tank which don't have Anubias.

I noticed only one dominant Synodontis grows big (5"), the rest remains small (~2"). Do you see this with your Synodontis ?

    Hi,

What do you feed them? I experimented with a variety of sinking pellets before settling on Nutrafin Sinking Complete Food Tablet.

Before that, when I was feeding them with some cheapo gold fish pellets, i do notice what you were describing, but now, the rest of them seemed to have caught up and the size difference is not that great anymore maybe around 1 inch difference.

    Cheers

I am feeding my catfish the same food inaddition to Hikari algae tablet, blood worm and tubifex worm.

I have been trying to photograph them but they always retreat to the back of the tank when I get near the tank. This is what I have managed so far

    Juvenile (1.5")

    Adult (5")

    Hi,

Nice pics! I am trying to take photos of my cats as well, but in the end I always end up with blurry pics, they are really camera shy and fast moving. The idea of setting up a 'studio tank' and moving them into the tank individually did came across my mind, but in the end, i decided against it.

Will continue to try to take and post the pics here.

    Cheers!

    Here's some of my cats.
    Apologies for the blurry pics.

More pics in my gallery, but quite blur, pai seh to post them here.

Will improve on my photography skills, and try to coax my other catfishes for more photoshoot.

    Cheers

just becareful not to end up buying Synodontis czechi. buy from specialist shops like CF, or you are a syno expert.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

What's synodontis czechi? Never heard of it, any pics?

I do know that Czech breeders are breeding many syno hybrids with injections and so on.

Here's an account of a unsuspecting buyer.
    http://mikes-machine.mine.nu/name_that_synodontis.htm

But, is this happening locally as well?
