nice cute fish there... needless to say your photography skills
A picture of a male Taeniacara candidi to share. This guy is around 2cm big.
No sure anyone have similiar experience as me, i feel candidis are quite elusive in a tank and they do not pose in their threat position for long. Or maybe its just that all my T. candidis are always like that...

Thanks Plee
Not a good pic actually, as you can see, tank glass is rather dirty
Oh, and if you are still interested in dwarf cichlids, T. candidi is one of the species whereby their finnage colours and patterns retain even when they are in neutral mood. Upon flaring, they just turned slightly more reddish like in the picture.

If I keep them in a 1 ft tank is it ok??

Beauty is in the eyes of the beerholder.
Hi Eugene,
Nice fellow you got there
Do you mean 2inch instead of 2cm?

Although they are small sized dwarf cichlids, they need much bigger tank size surprisingly.
When they are breeding, a 2ft tank will be the minimum, else the male will suffer as the female is very very protective of her eggs and fries.
Richard, they are slim body by nature.
Wow!! I still can't imagine a fry of 2cm with such nice colors and finnage growth 2cm is really very very small

thanx valice for the reply .
Very nice colouration for a 2cm Taeniacara Candidi.
Used to keep it in my 2ft planted before.

How long did your lone fry take to reach this size?
My batch seemed to have stopped growing...
Hi Eugene, great colouration, i like!
Just me being picky as usual, the dorsal seems to have slight problem.
Its something I noticed being quite common among bred dwarf cichlids.
It's NOT "Chee lick", NOT "Chee Chee Licks"!!! Cichlids is pronounced as "Sick Lids"!!!!!
really suprised that it's only 2 cm. stunning colours on that little one.
just a question.. is that a spine at the front of the dorsal fin or is it normal?
If I were a fish, I'd BREED all Day!
Not sure how many months it took to reach this size. Got it from someone sometime back. So didn't keep track. But i see these guys grow pretty fast compared to other species, came at maybe 2-3mm, skinny, fragile looking, but now, its bigger then some of my other fries!
The spine on the dorsal is not normal. Some slight deformation. Since this guy is not a wild caught nor an F1, so maybe the deformed finnage. But then again, i don't think its even possible to find wild-caught T. candidis here right Yorky?
