The Kentucky Wildcats are 7-2 on the season and preparing for a matchup with the North Carolina Tar Heels in Atlanta this coming weekend.

Off to a solid start, the BBN is used to being associated with some high-profile figures in entertainment. With a lengthy list from Drake and Lil Wayne to Ashley Judd, the Cats have a high-profile fanbase.

Now, we can add another celebrity to the record of discussing their UK fandom.

George Clooney joined Cinema Blend’s Sean O’Connell recently to talk about his latest movie, The Boys in the Boat, and it quickly became a conversation about Kentucky Basketball.

As O’Connell sports a UK polo, Clooney said:

“I mean, that was a very disappointing loss the other day, but we’re still doing OK. It was a great win just before that,”

O’Connell responded by saying:

“(Lose) against the powerhouse, UNC Wilmington? You’re not scared of UNC Wilmington?”

Even freshman forward Aaron Bradshaw got a shoutout from the award-winning actor.

“And you’ve got — the tall kid is back. Yeah, Bradshaw. He played really well,” said Clooney.

Oh, and of course, he briefly discussed the upcoming matchup with the North Carolina Tar Heels in Saturday’s CBS Sports Classic.

“We’ve got to beat them. Got to beat them,” Clooney said.

Clooney, who was born in Lexington, has mentioned in the past his fandom of the Cats, but I don’t think many knew he followed as closely as he apparently does.

A cool story for such a fun team for the BBN to follow.
