1957 Maserati 160 T4

I found this bike for sale and didn’t know it existed. Maserati made a motorcycle? The answer is an unqualified yes, but not only are the bikes extremely rare, but information on them is also very hard to come by. It seems that when Andolfo Orsi (an industrialist who owned many companies including Maserati) died his sister Ida Orsi inherited a company that made motoring components. She then bought Italmoto and produced motorcycles using the Maserati name and logo from 1953 to 1958.

Maserati 160 - Engine

This is apparently a Maserati 160 T4. Four stroke 158cc that developed 7.5 HP. Pushed through a four speed gearbox and chain driven to an advertised top speed of 66 MPH.

Maserati 160 - Cockpit

This bike may be an unridden original, as only 2 miles show on the ODO and the pictures are nothing short of spectacular. Location is in France, and it is “Price on Request”. I guess if you have to ask you really don’t want it. It is for sale here on Classic Driver. The pictures are worth the visit to the site. They have 2 more Maseratis for sale currently.
