The MAP-2100 is a rack-mounted network tester that network operators can use to remotely test the transmission quality of high-capacity network links connecting data centers, headends and regional hubs. With the MAP-2100 as the central, fixed test point, only one technician is needed to test from the remote site to a central location, with essentially no support or coordination from anyone else. This centralized test strategy enables a single service technician to run Layer 2-4 tests from their portable instrument to a MAP-2100; all relevant data is stored locally on the unit as well as on the central server (if desired). As R-PHY becomes a more prevalent edge architecture, this use case will become more valuable, VIAVI predicts.

Judge's Comment: "Every hub and headend with a fiber distribution panel should have one of these. The ability to qualify existing fibers and spare fibers for greater performance than what is deployed today is a great feature."
