Natalie Portman's French Twist Is Very Jackie O Coded

As is her red lipstick.

Fashion month is still going strong on the other side of the pond. After New York Fashion Week brought some big hair, doll-inspired makeup, and soft power dressing; Paris, London, and Milan have all been on a string of top-tier runways and even bigger celebrity appearances. A common theme amongst the stars sitting front row? Keeping it simple and glamorous, like Natalie Portman at Paris Fashion Week.

On February 27, Portman was in the French metropolis to attend Dior’s Fall/Winter 24 runway show alongside the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Rosalía, and Blackpink’s Jisoo. Portman channeled the chicest of Parisian fashionistas in her French twist hairstyle and full Dior ensemble.

Although the entire look was a masterclass in, well, class, we were most drawn to the aforementioned French twist. As has been one of the reigning cool-girl-chic hairstyles for years—just ask Keke PalmerHailey Bieber, and more—she pulled her hair back into a stylishly messy twist. Parted in an extreme side part, her hair was all pulled behind her head into a classic twist, pulled closely to her head to keep it tight. She left a few of her strands as flyaways out here and there, adding to the effortless cool factor of the hairstyle and making it feel more lived in. Because of the way she parted her hair, the top front half of the style was raised slightly higher than the rest, providing some extra volume.

Like the cool girl she is, she walked into the show wearing a pair of classic sunglasses. In combination with the rest of her outfit and makeup, the accessory gave us upscale office siren vibes. Even more so since the only pop of color in the entire outfit was a classic red lipstick—a deep matte cherry tone, to be exact.

From the neck down, we only had more proof. Portman layered a ribbed black turtleneck underneath a textured, heathered gray blazer and exact-matching mini pencil skirt. When she was cold, she layered a black pea coat over her shoulders, leaving her arms out of the sleeves. Then, she paired it all with the black pointy-toed pumps, as any chic Parisian would.
