Sir Bob Geldof didn't hold back when Russell Brand presented him with an award at the NME Awards ceremony in 2006.

The footage has resurfaced online following last night's Channel 4 Dispatches documentary which looked into the allegations made by four women against Russell Brand, said to have taken place between 2006 and 2013, writes The Mirror.

In the documentary – which was the result of a join investigation between Dispatches and The Times – Brand is accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse. Before the show aired, Brand made a statement on his YouTube channel in which he strongly 'refuted' the 'criminal' and 'very serious' allegations and insisted any relationships he has had have been consensual.

And the Bob Geldof clip was shown in the documentary which took viewers back to a time period of the former Big Brother's Big Mouth presenter's height of fame.

The clip from the 2006 NME Awards shows Russell presenting Sir Bob Geldof with an award, but deliberately mispronouncing Sir Bob's name. Announcing the winner Russell said: "Of course the winner is Live Aid so please welcome to the stage Sir Bobby Gandalf."

The musician then walks on to the stage to accept the gong before declaring: "Russell Brand what a c***" in a tense moment, which was met with some cheers in the crowd before Bob and Brand exchanged an awkward look. Brand was seen leaning at the side of the stage and looked annoyed by Bob's jibe before the Irish star continued with his acceptance speech.

The clip in the documentary ended there, but in the full clip, Brand made another jibe at Geldof after his acceptance speech. Once Sir Bob left the stage, Russell said on stage: "Bob Geldof there, obviously an amazing man to whom we have a lot to be grateful – not him calling me a c*** of course. Really it's no surprise he's such an expert on famine he has, after all, been dining out on I Don't Like Mondays for 30 years."

It comes after Brand denied the 'very serious' and 'criminal' allegations before they surfaced. He said: "I've received two extremely disturbing letters or a letter and an email. "One from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper listing a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks, as well as some pretty stupid stuff like community festival should be stopped, that I shouldn't be able to attack mainstream media narratives on this channel. But amidst this litany of astonishing rather baroque attacks, often very serious allegations that I absolutely refute. These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies. And as I've written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous."
