Enontekiö is located in Finland's Käsivarre on the border between Norway and Sweden. The municipality of Enontekiö was founded in 1877. The municipality is the third largest in Finland by area. More than 60% of all fells in Finland and all peaks over 1000 meters are located in its area. The most famous of them are Saana and Halti in Kilpisjärvi. Enontekiö is known for its large, distinctive wilderness areas, and it is a popular destination for nature tourists.
