This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby addressed toxic workplace allegations and spoke about a "difficult year for everybody" on the National Television Awards red carpet yesterday (September 5).

Earlier this year, Willoughby's former co-host Phillip Schofield stepped down from the show, then resigned from ITV as a whole, as he admitted to an affair with a younger male colleague who worked on the programme. He described the relationship, which has since ended, as "unwise, but not illegal".

The show has faced allegations of a toxic work culture, including claims of bullying and discrimination.

Speaking to OK! outside London's O2 arena, Willoughby said: "If I am really honest, it has been up and down. It has been a difficult year for everybody but what's lovely is you find that people rally around you and the goodwill is there.

"People want things to move on. It feels different."

Willoughby also addressed the allegations of a toxic environment at This Morning.

"I know there's been lots of reports about things and for me personally, you know, I don't want to speak on behalf of other people, but it's a world I honestly don't recognise.

"I think that we all look after each other is the honest truth," she added.

Fellow This Morning host Dermot O'Leary previously addressed allegations of a toxic work culture, following a public statement from former contributor Dr Ranj Singh in which he alleged he was "managed out" of the show after he tried to raise concerns.

"We happen to be in the news at the moment and, of course, we appreciate that but just from both of us and the whole team here, the crew, the guys downstairs, we love making this show for all of you," O'Leary said on air.

"It's actually a happy place to work. I enjoy coming in and have done since I began."

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
