Guy Chambers is a successful songwriter and producer, probably best known for the music he created during the time that he spent with Robbie Williams. He helped to launch his solo career with the chart-topping success of Angels in 1997.

Chambers co-wrote a number of Robbie Williams' other earliest hits, including Rock DJ, Feel and Let Me Entertain You.

Netflix's brand new documentary series delves into Williams' relationship with Guy Chambers, both through archive footage of them working together in the studio as well as on-camera interviews.

It showed that they were once working in a way that a band or a duo would, collaborating closely on Robbie's early solo work. Together they produced four albums, including Robbie's first post-Take That release Life thru a Lens, as well as I've Been Expecting You through to Escapology.

Guy and Robbie suddenly parted ways in 2002, with Robbie wanting to go in a new direction. The docuseries presents things as having become a little creatively strained between them.

"I think Guy thought, 'We are a band called Robbie Williams,' but I needed full control as much as possible," Robbie said in the new documentary.

In 2005, Robbie Williams is reported to have declared an end to his 'feud' with Guy Chambers.

"Me and Guy are friends again," Robbie is quoted by the Daily Star as saying at the time. "We speak now and will be working together in the future, you'll all be pleased to hear."

Guy Chambers and Robbie Williams now: What's their relationship like?

The pair reunited professionally in 2013, working together on Robbie's album Swings Both Ways.

Responding to the release of Netflix's documentary, Guy posted a throwback photo on Instagram of himself alongside Robbie, referencing their friendship.

He wrote in the caption: "The @robbiewilliams documentary is out on @netflix tomorrow. It paints a really in depth portrait of our friendship and I'm excited for you all to see it."

This followed a previous reaction he had shared, after being able to watch the documentary ahead of time.

Guy shared his opinion that the Netflix show was "a very honest look back at his [Robbie Williams'] extraordinary career and our friendship".

"It was a creative meeting when we were both at turning points in our careers and shows the journey that the two of us went on from the early excitement of writing Angels thru to the challenges of touring and the tension recording Escapology," Guy added. "In my opinion this is the definite RW documentary."

Robbie Williams is available on Netflix.
