CSI: Vegas finally gave fans a moment they've been waiting for in this week's season finale, as long-time married couple Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle Grissom finally kissed on screen for the first time.

Fans of the CSI franchise saw Gil (William Petersen) and Sara (Jorja Fox) become a married couple back in season 1o of the main CSI show in 2009, but their relationship has been characterised by a lack of on-screen physical affection.

CSI: Vegas executive producer and showrunner Jason Tracey has now revealed just how seriously the show's team took the moment in the Vegas season one finale, which sees Gil and Sara share a kiss while riding a rollercoaster at night.

"It's the most intimate you have ever seen them," he told Entertainment Weekly. "Hopefully, it will feel like a payoff for those who have been so invested in the Gil and Sara relationship.

"It's been really interesting to have the two of them married on screen for the first time for an extended stretch. It's a huge responsibility to take the relationship and put it all on screen. But you don't want to go from 0 to 60. You have to have a slow build."

Tracey also revealed that the romantic scene, as well as other small "stolen moments" of intimacy between the characters during the season, were much requested by the fans – and their opinion is something that Tracey takes very seriously.

"Love those fans!" he said. "They know these characters better than I do. We could all benefit by putting them in the driver's seat. I think it paid off."
