In potentially the biggest WWE news of the year, Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle will step back into the ring for his first WWE match in 11 years.

The Monday Night Raw general manager will lace up the boots for a historic return to the ring at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2017 in Minneapolis this Sunday night (October 22).

However, it's set to be anything but an easy night at the office for Kurt because he'll be standing in for an injured Roman Reigns in teaming with Shield members Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose in a 5-on-3 Hell in a Cell match.

Their opponents will be the massive Braun Strowman, The Miz, Cesaro, Sheamus and Kane — who made his first appearance in the WWE attacking his brother, The Undertaker, in a Hell in a Cell match exactly 20 years ago this month.

There's also going to be one other substitution due to injury at WWE TLC 2017 this weekend. AJ Styles will be filling in for Bray Wyatt to battle Finn Bálor as well.

A return to the WWE as an in-ring competitor caps off an incredible year for Kurt Angle, who returned to the company after 11 years away for an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania weekend.

Several months before he struck his latest deal with WWE, Angle assured Digital Spy that he'd never given up faith of making a comeback in the sports entertainment company that made him a superstar.

"When I did try and go back a year and a half ago, I think they were thinking, 'Let's see how he pans out, let's see if he can stay clean, let's see if he got his shit together'," he said in 2016.

"I think that's part of it. I don't blame them for that. I actually knew ahead of time that they were most likely going to say no. And I knew it was because of my own actions.

"But being clean now for three years and abiding by what I have to, I know that there will come a time where I will go back."

In that interview, he also singled out then NXT stars Jason Jordan and Chad Gable as two talents he'd love to work with — a dream that came true this year when Kurt revealed on WWE Monday Night Raw in July that Jason Jordan was his long-lost son. (Wink, wink.)
