Java Moss (Taxiphyllum Barbieri) is one of the most popular aquarium moss in the planted tank hobby. It is a slow growing plant that can be placed anywhere in the tank but is most commonly attached to a surface. Aquarium moss is often used to create cover for baby fish and shrimp to hide in and safely feed on the scraps of microorganisms the moss provides. Additionally, Java moss is used to wrap around aquascape objects like rock or driftwood to create a new unique look in a planted tank. To ensure your moss stays in place, use super glue or thread to safely attach it to something. Aquarium moss is a great beginner friendly plant and is an easy intro to keeping live aquatic plants.

When will items ship?

Most items ship out in 1-3 business days excluding holidays when the post office is closed. If you would like to receive your item faster we recommend purchasing upgraded shipping (7.99). If there is severe weather, holidays, potential for delays, etc. we will sometimes print the label but not ship your package until after the issue has passed in order to ensure safe arrival.

DOA (Dead On Arrival) Claims:

It is our honor and privilege to serve you. We hope that you are satisfied with everything. If you are for some reason not satisfied, please let us know as we are here to help make this hobby easy and enjoyable!

Livestock:

1. We guarantee live arrival only on all of our livestock. We do not guarantee your success in growing/raising them. Once the plants arrive to you alive, it is out of our control if you have success or not in growing these plants as many factors go into having a successful planted tank such as lighting, co2, fertilizer, etc.

2. If it is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit in your city you are required to purchase a heat pack and Styrofoam box with your order otherwise we are not liable for any potential cold damages for orders placed without a heat pack. If it is above 85 degrees Fahrenheit you are required to purchase an ice pack & Styrofoam box with your order otherwise we are not liable for any potential cold damages for orders placed without a heat pack. We have a listing for both the ice pack & heat pack and make it very affordable at only $4.99. We try to make these as cheap and accessible as possible to help make sure your livestock arrives happy and healthy

3. In the rare event livestock shows up dead, we must be notified in 24 hours. Keep in mind these plants just took the journey of their lifetime in a dark box for 2-4 days so they will take time to recover and be at their best again. Please Take clear photos of the dead plant in the unopened bag and send it to us within 24 hours of receiving the item and once the item is validated by us we will send a replacement or refund minus the cost of shipping. Failure to comply with one or more of these policies will mean we can no longer cover you.

4. If you are concerned about extreme heat or cold, we highly recommend having the post office hold your mail for the estimated delivery day in addition to purchasing the heat pack or ice pack. This is a completely free option which can be requested online via usps.com or in person at your local post office. This way, your package will remain indoors, protected, and out of the elements for you to pick up once the package has arrived.

5. We guarantee live arrival of all live stock. This means we assure that live stock will show up alive. We do not guarantee your success in keeping the livestock alive/healthy. Lots of outside factors that we cannot control go into the success or failure of keeping livestock healthy. We are here to help but are not liable after you have received the livestock alive.

Do your plants have snails?

We try not to have snails/pests but it happens, we remove any visible imperfections before shipment however to be 100% certain we suggest that you either do an Alum dip, Beach dip, and/or wash the plants. Anytime you add something new to an aquarium it is important to rinse it off before adding just to be safe. Keep in mind snails are completely harmless and very beneficial to aquariums, they do not eat plants, snails are detritivores meaning they will only eat dead and decaying matter not living healthy plant leaves.

Alum dip: used at 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. Mix the solution in a bucket and leave the plants in it for 12-24 hours then rinse the plants off. Put a light above the bucket for the plants if you plan on leaving them for a while.

Bleach dip: keep in mind bleach is very harsh so the alum dip is the better option. For bleach dips do take 1 part bleach and 20 parts water mix in a bucket, dip the plant for 5-10 seconds then remove and rinse the plants off. Certain plants like moss and jungle val should not be beach dipped as it can severly damage them.

The majority of aquarium plants start their life grown out of the water on farms but we do our best to start the process of converting them to underwater aquatic growth for you. With that said, your plants may lose some leaves and melt back some while going through this process. This is completely normal.

Some plants are more sensitive than others. All this means is that certain plants will hold up better in shipping than others. While certain plants like Anubias or java fern can last a long time in shipping, sensitive stem plants can be more prone to losing some leaves or melting a little bit. Your plant is not dead if it loses some leaves in transit, it just needs a little time to recover and start growing again in your tank.

Our listed processing time on Etsy is 4-6 business days, however we ship orders out much quicker than that. Having a longer processing time listed allows us a little just in case time if there is ever any bad weather or plants that need a little recover time.

Holidays may affect the ship times due to facility closures and or packages potentially not moving so we may wait until after to ship your order to be safe.

We do our best to ship every order fast, but If you ever need an order super fast, simply message us and let us know. We can often times ship same day or next day provided you message us early enough in the day. We also offer a priority mail upgrade option to help the package arrive faster and spend less time in transit.

We offer free first class shipping on all items. First class mail generally takes 3-5 days to deliver. This method works well, however we encourage you to consider upgrading the shipping to priority mail if it extremely hot (above 80) or cold (below 50) in your area. Please keep in mind these are live perishable plants, if you leave them out they can perish. Even if they are not life out and there are freezing temps in your area, they can certainly freeze, so please be mindful of your weather. The best thing to do if you are concerned about weather is potentially upgrading the shipping so the plants spend as little time in transit as possible and or having your local post office hold your mail, you can request this in person or online.

Aquatic plants are wonderful for your fish, add a lovely look to any aquarium in addition to helping filter + oxygenate the water so adding live plants is a great choice.

Only a few things needed for great plant growth:
- A good light (preferably on a timer for 6-8 hours a day, your plants want consistent light and you don’t want lights on too long otherwise algae will start to grow, 6-8 hours a day is ideal)
- Good substrate (substrate = what you put the plants in at the bottom of your tank)
- A good nutrient source example: liquid fertilizer or root tabs. Liquid fertilizer is usually the go to, root tabs help as well.

Snails are a natural part of the environment and are inevitable when dealing with live aquatic plants. Snails DO NOT eat plants. They are completely harmless and beneficial to aquariums by cleaning up algae and leftover food, dead plants, etc. however if you wish to avoid possible snails, please consider purchasing tissue culture aquatic plants and/or cleaning and quarantining new plants very thoroughly prior to placing them in your aquarium.

A quick and easy solution to help avoid snails is a bleach dip. Get 1 part bleach, 20 parts water, and dip the plants for a quick 5-10 seconds then rinse them off with clean water. Keep in mind bleach can be harsh on plants so you don’t want to overdo it.
