In the middle of the gigantic Sportwelt Amadé ski system, consisting of a dozen villages that together make up more than 850 km of pistes, you’ll find Flachau. This is the home peak of Austrian downhill skier Hermann Maier.
A new ski system has been built in Flachau during recent years, giving them bragging rights to Austria’s most modern ski system. This extensive ski area offers something for every skier. There are slopes in many different lengths, steepness and widths, including off piste skiing. In addition, Flachau has a recognized snow park, the design and size of which are altered frequently.
The best way to reach Flachau is by air to Salzburg and then by bus for another hour (light traffic). Like in most alpine villages, there is, apart from skiing, a range of activities on offer. Everything from luge and ice climbing to snow rafting.
