Jenny McCarthy made it clear that she left The View back in 2014 because she didn't feel like she fit in. On her recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, the 46-year-old star told Andy Cohen a story that seemed to explain why she felt that way.

When asked about what she thought of Meghan McCain, she said she loved her and that the show "needed an opposite point of view." She then revealed that the program wanted her to "act Republican" for the same reason.

"When I was on there, it was really hilarious, because they initially had me come on to be the pop culture girl because they wanted to change it. And then Barbara didn’t know who anybody was pop culture wise. And then they came in my dressing room and said, ‘Can you just act Republican so we have another point of view?' And I said, ‘How do I act Republican?’"

Jenny concluded her story by explaining that they eventually "figured out how to get a Republican." (The View hired conservative co-host Nicolle Wallace in September 2014).

While Jenny may have found the request to be bizarre at the time, the comedian told People when announcing her departure from The View that she was thankful for the opportunity Barbara gave her. It just wasn't the right job for her.

"I am so grateful to have worked with Barbara Walters in her last year along with many producers and co-hosts," she said back in 2014. "I have a new job [host of Sirius XM show Dirty, Sexy, Funny with Jenny McCarthy] that will allow me to do what I do best, which is talk without having to interrupt anyone.”
