Pierce Brosnan is getting loose with his style

During the late nineties, actor Pierce Brosnan was in as tune with his freed-up sense of style as he was the inner workings of MI6. While he was playing a suit-clad Brosnan on-screen during his seven-year stint as the world's most famous secret agent, he was getting experimental off-screen. Wrap-around leather blazers. Doubled-up (and sockless) denim looks. Pasha De Cartier wrist-watches. High-shine earring bling. Bolo ties. Beaten-up Western belts. A Liberace-esque neck game. It was Hollywood heartthrob territory that spoke to the red carpet demands his star power called for at the time.

Once he'd gracefully handed over the 007 baton, Brosnan's fits became a little more scaled back, a lot more lackluster. In the late 2000s and early 2010s – circa the Mamma Mia years, should you prefer – we were inundated with tailored black suits and open collar shirting, pointy brown shoes and too many matching navy blue suit and tie situations.

Now though Brosnan's given his 2022 a Nineties shake, a little stir. Stepping out for the Black Adam photocall at London's celeb-friendly Corinthia Hotel, Brosnan was a glorious sight in a vivid, fuschia-hued (sorry, Pantone label it as “pink yarrow”) suit

Cut sharp to his body, it's a bold move, especially when set against a dreary grey London October. Underneath he did stick to his signature open-collar crisp white shirt, but we can look past that, along with the brown shoes (black would've been more suitable). In a full circle move, he nicely complemented the fit with a pair of rouge-lensed shades, because why not?

Brosnan's look is menswear proper, for the lively and brazen guy who's all about giving the people what they want. It was a welcome throwback to the fun of the Goldeneye era. Long may it continue.
