Never one to shy away from a bold look on a red carpet, Chadwick Boseman didn’t disappoint with his appearance at the Golden Globes tonight, wearing a metallic silver custom tuxedo by Atelier Versace. Boseman’s single-breasted evening suit with shawl lapel features allover hand embroidery and beading detail on the jacket, with the embroidery repeated along the tuxedo stripe of the pants.
“It’s a work of art,” says stylist Ashley Weston, who has worked with the actor for more than eight years. “We have a great relationship with Versace — Donatella and the house loves Chadwick, and he loves them, so we tapped them to create this custom look. Silver is a color we’ve never done before, and it’s really striking on him.”
The suit is finished with a white tuxedo shirt and bow tie.
The Black Panther star indeed has a history of making headlines in the Italian label, including the white tuxedo with matching cape adorned with antique gold beading and jeweled crosses that Boseman wore to May’s Met Gala.
“For every red carpet or awards show we like to keep the momentum going,” Weston explains. “Chadwick loves fashion and is really fearless, so [tonight] is another opportunity for a modern, fresh take on a black-tie look.”
Weston accessorized the suit with Christian Louboutin tasseled loafers in a silver glitter finish and jewelry by Tiffany & Co.
“The silver shoes complete this very nontraditional, head-to-toe look,” Weston notes. “For jewelry, it’s just about little touches, an accent of white gold and diamonds that compliments this idea that tonight Chadwick looks more than stylish — he looks regal.”
