Poppy Love

Fans of wonderful Finnish textile brand, Marimekko will immediately recognise the company's most distinctive and iconic design, the 'Unikko' flower print, which has just celebrated it's 50th birthday. The pattern was created by determined designer Maija Isola in 1964, who, despite being told by the Marimekko's founder, Armi Ratia, that there were already too many florals, she saw an opportunity for a new kind of design, and inspired by the poppies growing in her garden, Unikko was born! Such was the runaway success of the pattern, it been used in fashion and interiors worldwide for five decades in myriad different colourways and scales. In honour of this grand birthday, Marimekko will be using the design, in unexpected ways, all over the world. Details can be found at unikko.marimekko.com.
