Nora Fatehi, the popular actor-dancer, recently spoke up about the challenges she has faced in the film industry. In a recent interview, Nora expressed her views on how filmmakers tend to cast only a limited number of actors in lead roles, without looking beyond them.

NORA ON THE CASTING TREND IN BOLLYWOOD

Nora Fatehi, who made her acting debut in 2020 with 'Street Dancer 3D', is well-known for her sensational dance numbers in various films. However, she firmly stated that it is not her dance skills that hinder her chances of landing lead roles. According to Nora, legendary heroines in Bollywood have always been exceptional dancers.

Speaking to News18, she said, "I don’t think because I dance is why they don’t want to cast me. Our main iconic heroines in Bollywood have been dancers who perform beautifully. And they excel in dance numbers, right? That was just a part of the package of being like an iconic heroine. I don’t think it was because of that. I think it was always, oh, I don’t know. It’s almost like let’s see who will take the chance on her [on me] and if she delivers in all the categories, meaning, the acting skills, the presence, the aura, the ability to express the language skill, then we’ll all jump on the opportunity. So I think it was who would have got the balls to do it first, to take a chance on me first. I think that was what everyone was waiting for."

Speaking about the prevailing trend of casting only a select few actresses repeatedly, Nora mentioned that the industry has become highly competitive, with only a limited number of films being made each year. She said, "“Today the industry has become very competitive. Let’s be realistic. There are only a few films a year. And sometimes what happens with filmmakers is they don’t think outside of what’s in front of them. So if only four girls are doing films, and they’re going in rotation, and all four are getting projects nonstop, the filmmakers will only remember those four, they won’t think beyond that."

NORA'S WORK FRONT

Nora also talked about her upcoming project. She has been roped in for Varun Tej's next Telugu film, titled 'Matka'. This film, set in 1960s Vizag, is said to be the most expensive project in Varun Tej's career. Nora's earlier Telugu film appearance was in Jr NTR's 'Temper' (2015), where she showcased her dance in the song 'Ittage Recchipodham'.
