In the Baltic bay everything is still an quiet this Tuesday evening due to the heavy layer of ice. Only the ice breakers (blue dots) are slowly moving. Remaning green dots are merchant vessels lying still waiting for support. All of them? Well, there is also the m/v Bothniaborg from Wagenborg, rampaging through the ice at staggering 14,6 knots! Thats is reliability in service through quality and good seamanship. -Wouldnt you agree?

𝗞𝗶𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹 – 𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 Kiel Canal, the short-cut between the North Sea and Baltic, was once the world’s busiest artificial waterway. Built on the orders of Germany’s navy-mad Kaiser Wilhelm II and opened in 1895, the 100-km Canal is now showing its age. All the stakeholders know that the lock gates and banks of the Canal are in a bad state – and know who’s responsible. For far too long, Germany’s Transport Ministry was uninterested in the Canal’s future. Repairs weren’t carried out and canal specialists’ jobs were cut. As a result, shipping lines lost confidence in the Canal’s reliability.
