I got my first mobile telephone, a Nokia 2110, in 1997. It had a pull-out antenna and a sim card the size of a credit card but my favourite early mobile was definitely the Nokia 7110 (Matrix phone 🕶️ ). I never got tired of the spring-loaded cover and spent countless hours playing Snake on its 96 x 65 monochrome screen during Accounting lectures. Don’t get me wrong I love my iPhone but those early mobile phones were as much about your personal style as anything. What was your favourite early mobile?

My first phone was from Nextel, probably around 1994. It was an iDEN phone that used the SMR (Specialized Mobile Radio) frequencies that cab dispatchers used so you could use it like a walkie-talkie with family, friends and coworkers. But, when that lost its appeal, my favorite phone was the Treo with a real keyboard for texting. (Though the Handspring that supported graffiti was pretty cool)

Same...!! I had a baby blue Alcatel brick beforehand which Peter Sawyer used to make very derogatory comments about! 😂

Nokia 8210 approx 1998/9 - I was the epitome of sophistication which you witnessed with your own eyes Matt. 😂

Ericsson T28 and then later Motorola RAZR V3. I’ll be buying an iPhone flip phone whenever they arrive!
