Art Director at OTEP / Screenwriter / Script Doctor/ Poet / Author / Political Director at LMR / Speech Writer
Back from my first tour in 4 years. Packed venues. Passionate fans. Insanely beautiful. I make art for arts sake & that's how I write songs which was & remains my biggest mistake as a fledgling songwriter/artist with little knowledge of the music industry. Indeed, the Industry of Music (as a whole) doesn't care about art or messaging or the healing powers of music. It's about $$$ and I know it's a business and labels need to make $$$ but I am who I am and I create what I create. I'm very lucky to have such a powerful fan base who keep believing, keep supporting, keep recruiting and keep listening to the music I make. Nine albums in and I'm still making new fans. However, if it ever becomes something beyond the ethereal, if it becomes only a means to make $$$, I'll walk away. I'll keep making art, I'll keep making music, but no labels, no naysayers, no execs, no suits, no obstacles. Unfortunately, my gifts as an orator, performance artist and poet have yet to manifest any alternative in another industry, maybe it will come to me somehow, I hope it does. I love challenges. I thrive in them. But until then, I'll be writing whatever the muses recite even if takes me outside the genre I'm currently locked into. Right now music critics are calling me "art-house metal" - which sounds pretty rad actually - but I've been blacklisted for speaking up for marginalized communities and writing songs to empower us. Maybe another genre would be more accepting. Only time will tell. Until then, thank you endlessly to all my Real Ones who celebrated the tour with me. New album (#9) will be released later this year as well as a re-release of HYDRA for its 10 yr anniversary. Big things happening. Let's be happy for what we have and create the future we desire and the future we need. Big love and gratitude. xx OTEP
