Don't boil the ocean

Don't boil the ocean

Digital analytics requires continuous adjustments and improvements. Don't try to boil the ocean, adopt an incremental approach.

What does this mean?

Start from a basic implementation with only the critical features. Make small, manageable changes and adjustments to your analytics setup. Take one step at a time, don't attempt to achieve everything at once.

Trying to achieve perfection from the beginning is overwhelming and time-consuming. When you try to "boil the ocean," you risk getting lost in an endless sea of tasks, bugs and complexities.

Breaking down your analytics strategy into smaller tasks is the key to success.

Imagine building a complex puzzle. It's much easier to assemble it piece by piece, rather than trying to put all the pieces together at once. The same concept applies to digital analytics.

If you divide your implementation into smaller steps, you can concentrate on each one. You don't spread your resources thin by implementing "everything". This approach allows for better quality assurance and minimises the chance of errors.

Focus on the most important aspects first. Incremental improvements enable you to gather valuable insights and feedback along the way. You can also avoid collecting data not needed by anyone.

Remember, incremental improvement does not mean mediocrity or lack of vision.

It is a wise strategy to reach your ambitious goals.
