One of the most recognized musicians in the world over the past decade gave an interview to the Italian newspaper Corriere, from his hotel room in Paris.

Robbie Williams, who is currently on tour in honor of his 25-year career, confessed to his own demons, as well as making clear he is no longer plagued by the problems he once had.

For the artist, his entire career can be summed up as "incredible, crazy, very beautiful, silly and unbelievable" given that so much has happened to him in 25 years.

His new album, 'XXV', was number one in the UK and Robbie Williams yields sales figures comparable to those of Elvis or the Beatles, but for the Briton that doesn't matter.

"The feeling is that at the moment I don't have to worry about being relevant and that's great. I would say that in this period it's great to be myself," he told Corriere.

One of the songs on the album is 'Lost', which talks about having lost a sense of life. However, it is an "autobiographical" song, as the artist acknowledges.

"It refers to a distant time, between 1995 and 2000," he continued.

"I felt lost most of the time, and my thoughts were 'This is all so pitiful. Why do I feel this way?

How do I stop feeling this way? Where am I? Mum, help me.' I felt that way for 20 of my 25 years."

Williams: If I had been a carpenter I would also have had mental problems

"The main problem was having a mental illness within an industry, like the music industry, which again gives you mental problems," Williams explained.

"If I had been a carpenter I would have had mental problems too, but that industry is not as intense as spending your life under the spotlight."
