Former Emmerdale cast member Charley Webb teased that her son seemed more grown up following a haircut after having previously defended him over his lengthy hair.

The actor, 36 - best known for playing Debbie Dingle on the ITV soap opera - has three children with her estranged husband and former colleague Matthew Wolfenden, 43. The former couple's eldest child is teenager Buster, 13.

She took to Instagram recently to share a photo of herself and Buster in a car together. The pair posed beside each other and Charley wrote over the photo: "Lads." Buster was seen sporting his signature lengthy hairstyle in the photo.

However, in a follow up post, Charley revealed that Buster had undergone a major transformation. The doting mum shared a photo of her eldest child, wearing the same outfit and seemingly in the same car, but sporting a much shorter hairstyle after a haircut.

Writing about the experience, Charley said: "Hair's gone." She went on to tease that it had aged her son, with the actor telling her followers in the post shared earlier this week: "I basically have a 19 year old."

It comes after Charley spoke about Buster's lengthy hair in a Q&A on social media last year, according to the Manchester Evening News. One fan asked the actor at the time: "Will you ever get the boys' hair cut or do they like it long?" She replied: "I love boys with long hair personally."

She went on to further discuss her family, which includes younger children Bowie, eight, and Ace, four. She said: "I think it depends on personality but mine all really suit it long. Buster and Bowie have both had it short and didn't like it..." She added: "Ace will decide when he wants to cut it I'm sure [...] I'm not precious about it."

Charley previously defended her family in 2019 and suggested that she'd received a backlash over letting her eldest two children grow out their hair. She shared a photo of Buster in a t-shirt that had "long hair don't care #boy" on the front.

She wrote: "I get asked so many times on here why my kids have got long hair. 'Why don't you cut it?' Or, 'they look like girls'. The answer is really simple, because we like it and more importantly they like it. I absolutely don't feel like I need to explain it to anyone who has an opinion but I just think life would be so much easier if we all just focused on our own lives. Don't let my kids hair worry you."
