Juan Gatti – Graphic Designer (April 8, 1950, Quilmes)

On this time, from the NARAN-HO Design team, specialists in web design in Marbella, we want to show you the work of Juan Gatti, a graphic designer with an extensive and versatile career.

Juan Oreste Gatti graduated in Visual Arts at the Instituo Di Tella, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His first jobs were as an art director for Argentine Rock musicians with Jorge Álvarez. There he worked designing covers for emblematic artists, such as Sui Generis, Pappo and Luis Alberto Spinetta, among others.

In 1979 he settled in Madrid, Spain, where he met again with Jorge Álvarez, who worked for the CBS label. He began working designing album covers for artists such as Mecano, Olé Olé, Mocedades, Dinarama and Fangoria. From here he became involved with La Movida, becoming a great friend of artists such as Alaska, Mario Vaquerizo and, especially, Pedro Almodóvar.

He has worked closely with Almodóvar on the design of most of his films. Their relationship is sometimes compared to that between Alfred Hitchcock and Saul Bass.

In 2011 he presented an exhibition of paintings and prints called “Ciencias Naturales”, based on the work done with Almodóvar in the film “The skin I live in” (2011). He has also designed, among others, fashion magazines, posters for plays, invitations for events, such as El Baile de la Rosa in 2008 (held in Monaco) or the wedding between Alaska and Mario Vaquerizo. In addition, between 2005 and 2008, he designed the Zara Home catalog.

Juan Gatti received in Spain the 2004 National Design Award in the category of Graphic Design. Later, in 2010, he was awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts.

For us, at NARAN-HO Design, the versatility of Juan Gatti’s work is a source of inspiration and allows us to incorporate different elements into our services such as graphic design, branding + branding, web design, etc. We invite you to contact us.

Basically, I work for people whose work I like, because by liking that manifestation of their personality, I am liking the person.

Juan Gatti

I like to experiment a lot, and sometimes my approach to work is more scientific, Victorian. I like the character of scientist more than that of artist.
